Got a Minute? TIME FOR STOMP ROCKETS

rocketsetup

Jack can set up the rocket by himself.

Are you aware of the world of stomp rockets? Fun, easy, exciting=perfect.

On this particular day, Jack had just gotten home from school. None of us were feeling like going inside yet. I grabbed the rocket, he set it up, we got about 10 minutes of enjoyment out of it that day.

Jumping time, with a reward of a shooting rocket!

I got this on Amazon for his birthday a few years ago. The tripod is kind of annoying to set up initially. Jack puts a “rocket” on and points it in any direction and then he jumps on the launch pad. It shoots up in the air and he retrieves it and repeats. He’ll let his little sister put a rocket on and he’ll jump for her. ANY kid loves this rocket!

I like that Jack can do the whole thing himself. I love the feedback that it instantly gives him—he knows he has to jump hard to make it fly high. This activity involves (a) jumping, a favorite activity, (b) following the rocket with his eyes, (c) running to get it, and (d) hand/eye coordination to put the rocket back on the launcher. And there’s always lots of (a) laughing and (b) arm flapping with a stomp rocket. That gives me feedback that he is enjoying himself, which makes me very happy.

>> My ‘Got a Minute?’ segments are to show a quick snippet of something that probably only lasted a few minutes, but was a good little use of time. “Little” is about Jack’s attention span right now. It doesn’t require perfect conditions, lots of time, or huge effort to do something to engage him in an activity. <<
